The 2023 NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat have begun, and once again a player who played his high school basketball in Illinois is playing for a world championship. Former Palos Heights Stagg player Max Strus is a guard for the Heat, averaging 11.5 points in about 30 minutes per game this regular season. The former Lewis University and DePaul player had 14 points in Miami's Game 2 victory on Sunday night. If Strus wins this championship, he will become the 43rd player from Illinois to hoist an NBA title trophy, according to MaxPreps .
