EAST PEORIA, Ill. — A new Corvette has been given away to benefit a park now under construction in East Peoria. With a 6.2 Liter V-8 engine, the car, a 2023 70th Anniversary Limited Edition Corvette Stingray Coupe, does zero to 60 mph in three seconds. 2,500 tickets were sold, at $100 each, bringing in $250,000 for the East Peoria Community Foundation's Levee park effort near City Hall. 'And the idea was that we would not put a tax burden on the citizens of East Peoria. So, the park, while we have received two grants from the state of Illinois…we applied for them because some communities were getting them, so, why not ours? Um, but the rest is funded all by donations,' Sue Portscheller, President East Peoria Community Foundation, told 25 News.
